Here's another pill of curiosity and knowledge.
The topic in question is the following: "how water gets into our homes".
As we know, water comes from natural sources or from wells that extract it deep from the ground in the aquifers.
Once collected, it is introduced into the municipal aqueduct, which are canals, in most cases underground, which serve to conduct considerable quantities of water, protected from infiltration, from one place to another, and to distribute it through canalizations and minor conduits to the users. These aqueducts, which run underground in our streets, connect to the water systems of each house/condominium, from which the water will arrive in our homes.
The manholes we see in the sidewalks are connections to the sewerage and aqueduct system.
